Our Adoption Story

As some of you may or may not know all of our story, I thought it would be a good idea to post it on here. All of this started when Becky went to Haiti on a short-term mission trip to Northwest Haiti Christian Mission in April 2006. She had a wonderful time on her trip, serving in many different ministries, one of which is an orphanage for children with special needs. One of the children in particular named Kerwin made quite an impression on here. Kerwin is deaf and has cerebral palsy mostly affecting his legs. These disabilities make it hard for him to live a normal life in Haiti, but Becky was impressed by how smart he appeared to be and what potential he had. As she returned home, Kerwin continued to be on her heart and mind in the months after she returned. After much prayer and consideration, we felt that God was calling us to pursue adoption of Kerwin. We received permission from the mission to adopt Kerwin on August 26, 2006 and have been continuing through the adoption process ever since then. God has continued to push us through the obstacles and barriers we have faced along the way, and we will be leaving on Sunday with the hope and anticipation that we will be able to bring him home this summer.

Becky Mike and Kerwin,
I called Mom tonight and filled her in on the latest news. Rachel
sent out some E-Mails letting the family know about this site.
Keep us informed. I hope we can see new pictures of Kerwin soon.

In some ways, your journey seems short and in other ways, the steps of the process have been "hurry up" and then "wait". All of it has required your total reliance on the Lord and not yourselves and I have been blessed to see your faith lived out in your reality. Keep remembering: God is who He says He is and He will do what He says He can do. I pray that His promise will soon come to be as you three come home! Love, Pam

I met with the plumber last night and got your new sink. He says he will start on Friday. Did you hear about Billy Donavan? He changed his mind about going to the pro.s 3 days after signing the contract. Now they are in negotiations and he may get fines, or restrictions such as he cannot go to a pro team for 5 years??? Wouldn't it be fun if he backs out and then Fla. says they don't want him back now! Poor Billy, his greed got the better of him.
Saw your picture on the web site last night. It is a great one! How is Kerwin? Did he remember you? Max is fine. He and Pete played for quite a while this morning. Pete was so worn out last night he fell coming UP the steps and it took him an hours or so before he was willing to try it again. Max is either going to get him in shape or kill him.
Love you both,
Mom

HAIL!!!! Wow, You just missed some major hail. It was larger than golf ball sized, definitely the biggest I've ever seen. The cars appear to be OK. Little wind damage in our yard. Max loved it. Tyler played fetch with him with the hail balls! We saved a few in the freezer so that you'll believe us. Hope your doing well. We love the three of you!
